How to Uninstall MarketBrowser
You must shut down MarketBrowser completely before you can uninstall it from your computer. If you have MarketBrowser
in Charts View (such that you can see the actual charts/graphs) you can shut down MarketBrowser using the menu option:
File => Exit. You may see a prompt asking if you'd like to use MarketBrowser as a toolbar rather then closing it
entirely. If this message is seen respond by clicking the NO button.
If your MarketBrowser is in MarketBar View (the task bar view across the bottom of your screen) or Icon Mode (where
only an icon shows in your system tray) then you can shut down MarketBrowser by right clicking on the system tray icon
and choosing Exit MarketBrowser from the popup menu. The system tray is a collection of icons on the far right
side of your Windows task bar (typically the bottom right corner of the screen). You will also see the current time
displayed in the system tray.
Tip: If you are using an older version of MarketBrowser it may not support
the Icon Mode and thus there will be no MarketBrowser icon in your system tray. If this is the case you can shut down
MarketBrowser from MarketBar View by right clicking on it and choosing Quit from the popup menu.
Once you have MarketBrowser shut down, you can now use the Add/Remove Programs utility to uninstall MarketBrowser
from your computer. To access this utility click on the Start button (in the lower left corner of your screen),
point to Settings and you'll see a sub-menu appear from which you should click on the Control Panel option.
Now double-click on the Add/Remove Programs icon near the top and you'll be presented with a list of programs that
you can uninstall. Scroll down this list until you've found MarketBrowser. Click on the MarketBrowser entry to highlight
it in blue and then click the Add/Remove button (or Change/Remove for Windows 2000 & XP). You will be
prompted with a message asking if you wish to uninstall MarketBrowser from your computer to which you should click the
OK button to proceed.
Tip: Windows XP users will be able to access the Control Panel option
directly from the Start button menu without having to go through the Settings sub-menu. Once you have the
Control Panel open you'll need to double-click on the Add or Remove Programs option and then continue as
described above.
Note: This removal process will uninstall MarketBrowser from your computer
but will leave behind the installation directory. This directory and the files remaining within will take up a nominal
amount of space on your hard drive and will have no continued effect on your computer at all. However, if you wish to
remove this directory you can simply delete it. By default, the MarketBrowser installation directory is located at
C:\Program Files\MarketBrowser. To delete this directory you need to first navigate to it. Do so by
double-clicking on the My Computer icon from your desktop and then Local Hard Drive (C:). Locate and
double-click on the Program Files folder and then search for the MarketBrowser directory. Right click
on this directory and choose Delete from the popup menu. This will remove the installation directory completely.
